About
Annabel Hammer
I decided to train in hypnobirthing with The Little Birth Company in the leadup to having my daughter in 2020. This all coincided with the first few months of Covid19. The thought of having my first baby in a pandemic filled me with great fear as there were so many unknowns about the situation at this time. I had struggled for many years to fall pregnant and found the whole pregnancy so nerve wracking. I was always anticipating the worst, as for many years it felt like I was constantly delivered bad news with my fertility struggles. However by the time it came to the birth, my mindset had completely changed and I felt positive and excited to give birth!
Let me warn you that my birth had it’s fair share of twists and turns, and often people ask me whether the hypnobirthing actually worked? Yes it certainly did! For me, the hypnobirthing served itself as a brilliant tool throughout my labour, especially at the most challenging points. I came away from the birth with no regrets and certainly feel I had a positive birth experience.
My birth partner also knew how to support me as he had learnt the hypnobirthing with me. He too could help me get through some difficult decisions as well as remind me to breathe! Never did we feel rushed or pushed into any decisions, and I truly believe that going into the birth informed made a big difference.
I hope to bring the same to you and help you have a positive birth experience.

My background
For the past 10 years I have worked as an acupuncturist in the UK where I supported women on their journey to conception, throughout their pregnancy and their transition to motherhood. I would regularly see women in the late stages of pregnancy for birth preparation and found the acupuncture worked brilliantly at calming their system down, taking them out of fight and flight mode into a relaxed state of calm. Often this had a great effect at nudging them into spontaneous labour.
In my acupuncture practice I was always fascinated by the role emotions have to play in pregnancy and the importance of addressing an individual’s state of mind when approaching childbirth. This aligns well with the hypnobirthing philosophy which utilizes the power of the mind and I add to my practice fantastic tools and techniques to cope with childbirth.
